What's your favorite restaurant in St. Louis?

I want to try some new restaurants so I need some suggestions! Any ideas in St. Louis or the metro area?

You have got to eat at Serra's restaurant in Maryland Heights! They have the absolute best spaghetti and breaded cannelonni! 2nd would be Massa's on Lindbergh by St. Charles Rock Road in St Ann... Great Semi-Formal atmosphere! also Italian.....Chinese food is best at Lee's Chinese in Bridgeton,on Natural Bridge Road, their buffet is a little expensive, but the food is worth it! American style "country home cookin'" would be at Reynold's Roadhouse on Dorsett in Maryland Heights! Oh and a great bar/restaurant is Yesterdays on Woodson in Berkley and the BEST mexican food is also on Woodson in Berkley at Las Palmas! Try any of the pub's along Russell in Soulard. There is a great Italian place across from Bastile, but I can't remember the name now. I like Elephant Bar out in West County Mall, even though its a chain, its really reasonably priced. The Concord Grill has great burgers. Charlie Gitto's on the Hill when you are trying to impress. Riddles in the Loop on Delmar, for the best roasted beets in town. I haven't tried it, but friends have, if you like German, there is a place right at Chouteau and 18th, again can't remember the name. Mokabee's at Arsenal and Grand, for a coffee house, sandwiches and a vegetarian brunch on Sundays. Ameristar's brunch on Sunday is to die for(St. Charles, and don't eat for several days before you go), and the City Diner again on Grand just past Arsenal for a large range of great food. And our families personal favorite Mexican, The Bean House, on Lemay Ferry at Telegraph. Nice patio and great margarita's. Right across the street during the early part of the day, The Donut Stop, the absolute best donuts in St. Louis, family owned. No nasty Krispy Kremes, just the real thing really well done.

When considering Chinese...



Don't waste money on big, over-priced restaurants like P.F. Chang's in Chesterfield. Instead, find authentic hole-in-the-walls operated by Chinese families who have moved here. Also, if you're looking for good Chinese, stay away from buffets; while the quantity may be great, the quality (and cleanliness) usually lacks.



I would recommend Mandarin Garden in St. Charles/St. Peters and Summer Palace in West County for the best.

I love some of the original places, like Stir Crazy on Olive and Lindbergh for asian food. But the best place to look for new places if you are either from St. Louis or not, Is websites for tourist. You'll be surprise the places that are listed that are not well known, but have the best selections of food and I from St. Louis.

Garduno's on Cherokee St. Best Mexican food in town! Actually, there's a lot of great Mexican places on Cherokee. For Vietnamese go to Bahn Mi So 1 on Grand. I love Sameem's on Grand for Afghan. If your looking to drop some cash, Sydney Street Cafe (Benton Park) is fantastic. Burger--O'Connell's. In the CWE, I like Balaban's and Dressel's. Franco in Soulard is really good. Also, in Soulard there's bar called D's that has great food...only problem is, not open consistently. Tanner B's on Shenandoah has good comfort food, as does Iron Barley on Virginia. Pizza? Black Thorn on Wyoming and Lemmon's on Gravois (same pizza). Gus' Pretzels for a snack. Don't try to find good BBQ. It all stinks here (except at my house!). Go to Saleem's on Delmar for Lebanese. For tapas, Barcelona. As far as Italian, I'm sure you know about the Hill. Good luck with seafood! Chris' Pancakes has pretty good breakfast. Another place with consistently good bar food is Sidebar on Washington. And even though I'm heavily City biased, Fast Eddie's in Alton!

in addition to stillfeelgone's answer, i think that pho grand on grand is excellent, great vietnamese food. duffs in the cwe is very consistent and affordable, a really cool chef works there. terrene in midtown on sarah is really good, all organic and nicely presented. any mexican restaurant on cherokee st. is the best in town (except los catrachos). india rasoi in the cwe is good. the best falafel in town is at cafe natasha on south grand. for gyros, check out gyros house in the loop. a really great place with a prix fixe menu thats a great deal is niche on sidney st. out in the county try the gumbo shop on brentwood near mcknight. also in that area nachomama's, and a'mis are good. a'mis is great pizza.

sen thai off washington is great for thai food. im a big fan of 1111 mississippi and an american place. tonys is great if you can afford 5 star cuisine and formal dress. dominics is also about as good as it gets (4 star). citizen kane's or carmine's for steak, forget shannons (overpriced).

stay away from lucas park grill .....terrible

I have always gone to the chain, Bob Evans as its a treat,

the fresh basket of hot rolls, etc. I live in California and we do not have them out here, The breakfast menu is very good too.
